Has Anyone Missed Me?

Well, I missed me. I haven't done a blog in so long because of my stupid computer. It has been soooo slow lately and it makes it twice as difficult to make the blog magic happen. It's very frustrating you see. I still have not figured out what the prob is, but I vow to all of you that I will blog again! Yes, I will! I have not as many pictures to post and blog about, but I have lots of opinions lately if anyone would like to hear those. . .hmmm. no one? Well, this is my blog. I'll do what I want!

Rant #1 BAD teachers!
I always thought that if a person doesn't LOVE to teach, they wouldn't be very good at it. And if they're not good at it, then they should not be teachers. Let's face it, it's just 30 years of public service!!! The pay is less than desirable, the hours are only good to the ones who aren't good teachers, and maybe if they do their job well, they'll be thanked for it one day! I mean, I knew from an early age I wasn't cut out for that kind of J-O-B. I sure wish Morgan's teacher would figure out that she's not either!!!!! I'm ready to discuss it with the principal. I never thought I would be that kind of mom. I grew up knowing that, 99% of the time, the parents that are going to the principal are the annoying, know-it-all parents that aren't doing their job at home and figure the school needs to make up for it somehow. I am not that parent. BUT, I am concerned. Morgan is a different kid this year. And not in a good way. Her self esteem has plummeted and her love for school or any kind of learning as been pushed out of her mind. It's a fight every morning to get her to go to school. She's a FIRST grader. This shouldn't happen for at least 4-5 more years, right? I know that she's not the only one in the class that feels this way either. Let me give an example for those that don't know already. We'll just call Morgan's teacher "Mrs." like Junie B. Jones calls her teacher. So the last week or two, the 4th graders have been coming in to the 1st grade classes and tutoring them. I knew that this would eventually happen because I have a friend/neighbor who is a 4th grade teacher and she mentioned it 2 months ago. SO I mentioned to her that if she could get a REALLY great girl to help Morgan that would be very beneficial. She said, " I have two girls in mind, and they would do great with her." Fast forward to two weeks ago. My friend was not working the first day the 4th graders started their tutoring, so when she got back she noticed neither of the two young ladies she put down for Morgan were tutoring her. She decided to talk to Mrs. about it. She asked, "Why didn't you put so-and-so with Morgan for tutoring?" Mrs replied with a little smirk, "Oh, it doesn't matter who we put with her, she'll just cry anyway!" I was LIVID! That is sooooo telling about what kind of teacher she is. And I can tell you that she is not the kind I want for ANY of my children! Could it have been worse? Absolutely! We could be talking about some serious abuse or something. BUT I know that these are the kind of teachers that are the hardest to get rid of. They are also the teachers that plague our schools and create a negative environment for our kids to learn. Chock one up for the home-schoolers! This is one solid argument for those who choose home-schooling. If you want complete control over what your child is learning, how they learn it, and the freedom to change things up when needed, then home-schooling is a good choice. I don't necessarily think home-schooling is the best option, but in my particular situation, with a 7 year old that has a poor self -esteem and that feels "dumb" every day, I would say the only reason I haven't taken her out for the year is because I'm not up for it. The previous example of the under-qualified teaching stylings of Mrs. is just one example of many. Did I also mention that the principal makes "regular" visits to her classroom? Did I also mention that this is her 3rd school in 3 years? What is the common denominator folks? MRS! I don't think Mrs. even understands what the problem is. I truly just think she's just trying to do her job the best she knows how so she doesn't get fired. I don't know much about her personally, but I can say she wouldn't ever be a friend of mine. Doing your job well is good enough for just about every other profession, but when your a teacher, you have to do your job well for the kids. And Mrs. is doing a piss-poor job! Whew. I'm tired. I guess there's only gonna be 1 rant today. . .
